This post is for anyone who needs help navigating this Proboards site.
Participants need to know how to read posts, reply, create posts and check PMs (private messages). We will not be using attachments during our session. All items must be copied and pasted into the message fields.
Play around in this general discussion area, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Proboards forums provide a social network where a variety of users can share images and text. You can enhance your Proboards experience by mastering a few basic techniques.
If you want to quote a post in your reply, left click the word “Quote” located in the upper right corner of the post. Your display will cascade to the advanced reply screen.
The reply form will auto fill the reply box with the requested quote surrounded by HTML code. Enter your reply below the supplied text and left click “Post Reply”.
If you want to reply to a portion of a quote, you can edit the quoted text by deleting words. You can modify a quote by adding words, but normally this is unethical because the result will appear as a legitimate quote. If you add words for any reason (comedy or otherwise), make sure it’s clear you tampered with the quote.
If you understand HTML, you can modify quotes in interesting ways, such as changing font, color, effects. Proboards uses [ ] brackets instead of < > ones around the basic HTML codes. If you’re not a programmer, don’t modify any bracketed [ ] text you see or you will invite disaster.
You can quote any post in the thread; it doesn’t need to be the most recent one.
In the upper left corner of each post, you will find a highlighted user name. Left click this name and your display will cascade to the member’s personal profile. You can send a personal message (PM) to this member by clicking the link.
A personal profile contains information supplied by the owning member. You can access personal web pages, YIM, and e-mail by clicking the appropriate link.
Go to your profile page. Left click “Modify Profile” to get this screen:
Most of the information on this cascade screen can be modified by clicking dropdown menus.
You can create a personal avatar (photo), by using the dropdown menu. If you have an account with an image storing service like Photobucket, you can import your photo.
photobucket.com/
Basic Photobucket accounts are free, but unsecured, so experienced Photobucket surfers can view your portfolio without your permission. If you have images you wish to protect, click appropriate Photobucket links to purchase a secured account.
Roll your cursor over an image in your portfolio to generate a dropdown menu containing four links.
Right click the box for “Direct Link” and paste this URL text into the avatar box of your Proboards profile.
You can create a personal signature the same way. Right click the Photobucket IMG code and paste this link into the signature box of your profile.
BONUS: You can add text before or after the IMG code. When saved, this text will appear in the corresponding location to the image.
Try to keep the dimensions of your sigs less than 125 x 800. Any things higher wastes space and forces the reader to scroll down more than necessary. Anything wider will expand the ENTIRE thread by creating off screen space accessed by dragging. Most readers become annoyed by this.
NOTE: Programmers, you can add FLASH code to the sig box as well.
After modifying your profile, click “Modify Profile” at the bottom of the page or you will lose everything. The cascade screen shows your new “pimped” profile. The avatar and signature you selected will appear on every post you make. If you don’t like your current profile, you can modify it without limit.
CAUTION: If you create a link to a saved Photobucket image and later move or delete that image, you will break the link permanently.
As you gain Proboards experience, you may wish to develop advanced posting techniques. Experiment with different forum features. You can delete any post you make and only the Administrator will know the post existed.
By using these basic techniques, any Proboards user can achieve a satisfying social network experience.
